## Getting Started

1. Install Photoshop Elements on Your Computer
Go to the official website of Photoshop and click the Download button for macOS or the Download button for Windows.
Download the latest version of Photoshop Elements.
2. Open Photoshop Elements
Open Photoshop Elements. It opens in the same way as Photoshop. Open Photoshop Elements. You’ll see a splash screen that lets you know Photoshop Elements is open.
3. Choose “File” from the menu bar and click the “New” button.
Choose “File” from the menu bar. Click “New”.
4. This opens the new Photoshop Elements file.
5. Before you start editing, it is important to do a quick maintenance on your computer to make sure the necessary software is installed and up to date. In macOS, this is done automatically by the Mac’s operating system. In Windows, you’ll need to access and update your computer before you start using Photoshop Elements. The steps for doing so are given in the video tutorial under the part where it says “Update everything on your computer”.
In macOS:
Go to the “Applications” folder. You can use spotlight to quickly find the Applications folder. Locate and select it in the Finder app. Open it. Find the folder “App Store” and double-click it. The smudge tool can be used to create an effect similar to the watercolor painting technique, by dragging the brush across the surface. You can also apply different degrees of pressure, to create a variety of tones and textures.
The liquify tool can make parts of an image more evident. This tool can be used to create a variety of incredible effects.
The Sponge tool can give an image a flat look by giving it a painted look. You can use this tool to create a neutral look.
The Clone Stamp is another tool that can be used to make an effect of pasting pixels. You can use this tool to remove spots and blemishes.
The Color Replacement tool can be used to remove or add pixels from your image. You can use this tool to change the color scheme of an image.
The Sponge tool can be used to create an effect that simulates the look of painting.
The Brush tool can be used to draw in sketchy lines, or to create designs. It can also be used to add color to a picture.
The Reverse Stamp can be used to add layers of color to an image, or to remove any color.
The Eraser tool can be used to erase pixels. The eraser is also useful for removing brush strokes.
The Black and White tool can be used to add or subtract grayscale from a color image.
The Shadow and Highlight tools are helpful for dealing with a picture that has too much or not enough shadows.
The Healing Brush can be used to fix scratches in an image, to remove imperfections, or to add color to a scanned black and white photo.
The Multiple Layers tool can create multiple layers in a single image.

Frailty in hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney disease: determinants and prognostic implications.
Frailty is a prevalent geriatric syndrome and a public health problem. Frailty has been shown to be a strong predictor of mortality in hemodialysis patients. This study aimed to identify determinants and prognostic implications of frailty in hemodialysis patients. One hundred and seventy-nine hemodialysis patients (70 males and 109 females, aged 68 ± 9 years) were included. Frailty was assessed by the Clinical Frailty Scale. In addition, associations of frailty with demographic, clinical, and biochemical data, nutrition, and dialysis modality were assessed by the t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test, χ2-test or Fisher’s exact test, correlation analysis, and logistic regression analysis, respectively. Patients were followed up for 1-year mortality. Patients were identified as frail (n = 109) and non-frail (n = 70). They were, respectively, 70 ± 10 and 64 ± 9 years of age, and had a similar male/female ratio of 0.9. They were, respectively, 44% and 57% from patients with diabetes, and 11% and 30% had hypertension. The proportions of patients treated with erythropoietin, paricalcitol, and insulin were, respectively, 8%, 10%, and 44%. Compared to the non-frail patients, the frail patients were older, had lower serum albumin and higher pre-dialysis serum blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, phosphorus, calcium, intact parathyroid hormone, and C-reactive protein. Frail patients were more likely to use sodium heparin, and were less likely to be on intensive-dialysis. In multivariate analysis, the frailty was associated with a worse dialysis efficiency (odds ratio [OR] = 1.50, P = 0.047), higher serum phosphorus (OR = 1.54, P = 0.027), and lower serum albumin (OR = 0.90, P = 0.031). During a 1-year follow-up period, 39 patients died, with a corresponding 1-year mortality rate of 22.7%. In multivariate analysis, the frail patients had a higher risk of death (OR = 2.31, P = 0.036). Frailty was associated with a poor dialysis efficiency, high serum phosphorus and low serum albumin.
